Voice of Our Father...

October 24, 1972
Tuesday

Dear Son, (Hijo)

We are fine and sure hope that you are in the best of health. This sounds funny because I just talked to you about 3 hours ago.

I just decided to write about anything I might have forgotten.
Mom just got back from Davenport after saying the rosary for Mrs. Rocha. She told you about it on the phone. Seferino is all done with football this year. He has joined the “Los Amigos” and will play a bugle.
Lillian is doing all right in school. You aught to hear her sing those record songs.
Lydia is al right. She was sick last month and she will probably get sick again. It is something we will have to live with for a while. Some day she will out grow it.
Ray is working everyday. He just got home from riding around. And! And! He got his first ticket (speeding) Remember when you got your first ticket!
Well, I said I was going to write a few lines.

Hijo, have faith in God and in yourself. Don’t give up. But! But! If ! Don’t be ashamed to come back to your “home”.

God be with you,
Your living dad (padre) R.I. Terronez

In this letter my Dad again talks about his children, their health, education, their jobs, getting in trouble and reminding another of a time when he got in trouble.

But the most important thing in the letter was having faith in God and in yourself. He says never to give up and that you can always come home to him. His home was a place for his children to come home too, no matter what.

Now after all this years, he words are still very loud and clear but not loud enough. His family is locked out of his house...by some of their very own siblings. Like in life and now in death, they continue to think they ways are better than his.

Another letter tomorrow.. His voice resounds in these letters. Love you, Dad
